West Kelowna is a newly incorporated municipality, formerly an unincorporated area of the Regional District of Central Okanagan. It is a rapidly growing community that is situated just outside of the City of Kelowna on the western shore of Okanagan Lake. The Westside is also home to another government body, the Westbank First Nation. IR #9 and IR #10 both exist within the Westside area and form an important part of our community. The Westside area was built on a history of agriculture, has urban amenities, residential neighbourhoods, and is nestled amongst scenic mountain terrain and Okanagan Lake. Being a valley nestled in the mountains, the Westside experiences all four seasons. It is home to many recreational opportunities from fabulous water activities and golf, to spectacular winter activities such as skiing and snow shoeing. The Westside is also the proud home to spectacular wineries and numerous beautiful vineyards.
The Municipal District of Westside and Westbank First Nation have continued to build on our strong partnership to once again compete nationally in the 2009 Communities in Bloom Competition…and we’re bloomin’ proud of our community!
